Elbert Randolph Townsend, Sr., 84, of Dinwiddie, Va. passed away September 22, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents Jesse Thomas Townsend and Gerty Slaughter Townsend; three sisters and three brothers. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ruby Leigh Mayton Townsend; daughters, Cathy Lingerfelt (Wayne) and Susan Stone (“Bones”); son, Elbert Randolph Townsend, Jr; 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Elbert retired as a supervisor for Brown and Williamson Tobacco Corporation. Graveside services will be held Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017 at 1:30PM at the Ledbetter Christian Church Cemetery, Meherrin, Va. In lieu of flowers please consider memorial donations to the American Heart Association. Staples Funeral Home, Victoria, in charge of arrangements.
